Is Content the new ‘rock n roll’

Content rules and the audience has proved it several times. When movies like Jolly LLB, Titli, lunchbox, Andhadun, Gangs of Wasseypur catch people in the feels and become the most talked about the faith in talent and good work is restored.

Good content is more than just stories, they are narratives that are vividly written and make people feel like they are a part of the journey. The whole audience “ Jaa Simran Jaa” and experiences goosebumps in DDLJ. That is an example of some good writing. It got Shahrukh and Kajol where they are today. Sheer good content is the only reason that movie has completed twenty-five successful year of being screened at Maratha mandir.

A very noticeable change in the new age audience is them prioritizing meaningful cinema over trashy entertainment. The scenario is not all black and white yet. Guilty pleasures always exist, the time when they do not overshadow the good films is what is aspired. Content is what lasts when all the star shimmer goes away. It is only it’s absence that lets all the superstar movies bite the dust.

Karan Johar in one of his interviews with India Today quoted "I think the only king today in Bollywood is content. I think all of us are just surviving on the basis of that if at all. "

Every visual that people see on screen is the last stage for any kind of content creation. Content drives good cinema and is the only hope for all cinephiles out there. Bollywood is also starting to recognize its importance and we can feel the shift in the para dime with the movies produced.

In the fifth edition of Indian Screenwriters Conference, Aamir Khan openly this discussed the need for good scripts with over 800 writers. He said, “Very few people understand a good script and every writer feels his is the best script. It could be either of these two reasons why a writer receives disproportionate respect. We need to invest in good script-readers as well as writers,”

The first problem towards making a change is recognizing what is wrong and then proceeding to eradicate it. With the stir caused by the new wave, we are pretty sure this revolution is going to be remembered.
