A prominent ‘paid’ form of communication, advertising is not just about paid marketing. There is a time and place for everything. Advertising depends on a lot of factors, one of the most important being target audience. For example if Prada starts advertising using placards behind local vehicles it will be a complete waste of money. Not only will it be a drainage of money but will also affect it’s brand value. However wrong it is, some brands are pretty classist and that’s what sells them. It is a pretty ugly face of the society but Raulph Lauren will lose it’s essence if every second person starts owning.

Advertising sounds easy but is not a doable task if you haven’t had some experience or studied it’s do’s and don’ts. This article is not a crash course we agree but we also plan on enlightening you a little with our handwritten notes. (yes we type with our hands, so it makes sense)

Advertising like any other contemporary branch has evolved in it’s lifetime. It is broadly divided into Traditional and Digital Advertising . Traditional is pretty guess-able, it refers to all the channels you can think of when you hear the term.

· Television

· Radio

· Magazines

· Pamphlets/Flyers/Brochures

· Mails

· Billboard Signs/Banners/Posters/signs

This method not only tends to interact with a larger number of people but also has a larger fan base and is generally more reliable in a country like India.

Digital Advertising refers to the methods which took birth after the advent and the world being a global village. Digital advertising if breaking down simply heavily depends on internet revealing your personal details and brands reaching onto you after that. Ever had a conversation about a particular thing with your friend ? How many times have you received an advertisement of a product pertaining to the category you had a conversation about? Almost everytime right ? Digital Advertising tends to target a particular set of audience which deems fit for the product. Instagram , Facebook and Youtube majorly host such advertisements. Content produced on these platforms is pretty customized and brings in a lot of online traffic from the up and coming generation.

Both of these approaches are used when trying to market a product. It is only the combination of both that a products is received well with the audience and all the efforts put in are worth it.
